Neptune & Salacia Diving was born from two parallel dreams that eventually converged in Kingston.
Martine began her professional diving journey in Montreal in 2009. A specialized educator by profession, she always imagined having her own boat and bringing divers to discover the underwater world. Her approach to teaching reflects who she is: warm, adaptable, and attentive to the unique needs of every diver. And in true Martine fashion, she adds one extra rule to the basics of diving: rule number one is never hold your breath, and rule number two is must have fun. Her passion is to make diving safe, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone.
Guillaume discovered diving in 2000 while deployed to Israel on a United Nations mission. After settling in Kingston in 2011, he joined the Military Dive Club and continued training until earning his instructor certification in 2019. Teaching became a natural extension of his passion for diving. After retiring from the Canadian Armed Forces in December 2021, he dedicated himself to building a high-quality dive centre in the heart of the Great Lakes. He is now progressing through the technical diving pathway toward becoming a Technical Diving Instructor, expanding opportunities for divers interested in Kingston’s deeper wrecks and advanced training.
Diving brought Martine and Guillaume together once in 2015, and again in 2019. When Martine visited Kingston, she fell in love with both Guillaume and the region’s extraordinary freshwater wrecks. She moved to Kingston in the spring of 2020, and together they decided to build something new.
In September 2020, they purchased their first boat, the Dorothy J, and began shaping what would become Neptune & Salacia Diving. In early 2021, they incorporated the company and became the first PADI-authorized dive boat in Canada. Their momentum continued with the opening of their dive shop in November 2022, establishing a home base for training, equipment, and community.
Growth continued. In November 2023, they acquired their second boat, Wreckreation, and Neptune & Salacia Diving became an official PADI Dive Centre. That same month, they reached a national recognition by becoming the first and only Green Fins centre in Canada, a distinction still held today and awarded to operators committed to responsible and environmentally conscious diving practices.
Their development was further acknowledged when Neptune & Salacia Diving became a PADI 5-Star Dive Centre. In 2024, they also became a K-Pass partner with Kingston Destination Group, bringing even more visitors to discover Kingston’s remarkable underwater heritage.
In November 2025, they achieved another unprecedented accomplishment: becoming the first and only PADI ECO Centre in Canada, the highest level of environmental accreditation offered by PADI.
Beyond training and charters, Neptune & Salacia Diving is deeply involved in environmental restoration. Each year, the team organizes several cleanup events, including the major Kingston Waters Cleanup each June. Over time, they and their volunteers have removed several thousand kilograms of debris from local waters, contributing to healthier ecosystems and strengthening community engagement.
Today, Neptune & Salacia Diving offers a full range of services: scuba diving courses from beginner to professional, specialty training adapted to cold-water and advanced conditions, mermaiding programs, charters to world-class freshwater shipwrecks, retail and servicing, air fills, freediving and snorkelling programs, and conservation initiatives. They continue to grow, innovate, and advocate for responsible diving in one of the most historically rich freshwater environments in the world.
What began as a dream shared by two divers on separate paths has grown into a guiding plan, strengthened by a passionate community and a shared mission to help Kingston become a leading destination for diving, education, and environmental stewardship.
